The Edison Invention Challenge is an educational competition where students must create a new invention using alternative resources. PicoTurbine alongside the Edison Foundation have created an online challenge which engages schools from all over the world to compete in an innovative “concept to market” invention challenge. This year’s challenge was “Assisted Living” where contestants had to create and market a product that would aid those in need. This year 91 schools from over 3 countries as well as 16 states competed in our challenge. This years finalists received a tour of the Thomas Edison National Historical Park in West Orange, New Jersey.

After the tour; winning teams received a reception on Edison’s lawn with light food and refreshments. The Edison Foundation along with PicoTurbine’s President Michael Burghoffer presented winning teams with trophies representing Thomas Edison himself.
The competition was judged by Elementary/Middle School and High School teams. First place teams won a 3D printer for their school while second and third place teams took home alternative education sets from PicoTurbine. The competition is launched yearly, to gain more information on how you can enroll your school contact us!
